At Stems by Emz, we are passionate about bringing beauty to your home with our stunning floral arrangements. However, we want to ensure the safety of everyone who interacts with our flowers. Please be aware that some flowers and plants can be toxic or cause irritation to humans and pets.

* Wash your hands after handling flowers or foliage.

* Some plants may have thorns, sap, or pollen that can irritate skin or eyes.

* If you have sensitive skin, gloves are recommended.

Allergies

* Some flowers (like lilies or chrysanthemums) can trigger allergies.

* If you are sensitive to pollen or strong scents, let us know when ordering.

Pets & Children

* Some flowers and plants can be harmful or toxic to pets and small children.

  * Common examples include lilies, tulips, daffodils, eucalyptus, and ivy.

* Keep arrangements out of reach of children and animals.

Flowers and plants to be cautious of include, but are not limited to:

Lilies (particularly toxic to cats)
Oleander (highly poisonous if ingested)
Foxglove (can cause heart-related issues)
Daffodils (can cause nausea, vomiting, and more if ingested)
Rhododendrons & Azaleas (may cause stomach upset if consumed)
Tulips (can cause skin irritation or digestive issues)
For your safety, we recommend that all plants be kept out of reach of children and pets. If you are unsure about the safety of a particular flower, feel free to reach out to us. We are happy to provide information about our arrangements and the specific plants they contain.

Secateurs Safety Use Guide

Secateurs are essential tools for wreath-making, but they are sharp and must be handled with care. Please read the following safety tips to ensure a safe and enjoyable workshop:

 DO:

  • Use clean, sharp secateurs – they make cleaner cuts and reduce the risk of slipping.
  • Cut away from your body and hands. Always be mindful of your fingers and others around you.
  • Use two hands if needed – one to hold the foliage securely and one to cut.
  • Place your foliage on the table when cutting tricky stems rather than trying to cut in mid-air.
  • Keep your workspace tidy to avoid knocking tools onto the floor or into someone else’s space.
  • Wear gloves if you’re concerned about thorns or rough textures (optional but helpful).

DON’T:

  • Don’t use excessive force – if the stem is too thick, ask for help or use a more suitable tool.
  • Don’t wave secateurs around or leave them open when not in use.
  • Don’t walk around with secateurs in your hands – especially not pointing upwards.
  • Don’t attempt to fix or adjust someone else’s tools without their permission.

At the End of the Workshop:

  • Please return any borrowed secateurs to the designated area.
  • If you brought your own, make sure they are clean and safely packed away before you leave.

If you're unsure how to use the secateurs at any point, just ask Emma or a team member – we're here to help!

Stay safe and happy wreath-making!
